1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using Celtic Baby Names ("the App"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.

2. Description of Service

Celtic Baby Names provides a swipe-based interface for discovering and saving Celtic baby names, including Irish, Scottish Gaelic, Welsh, Breton, and Cornish names. Some features require a Premium subscription.

3. User Accounts

You must sign in with a Google account to use the App. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account and for all activities that occur under your account. You must be at least 13 years old to use this service.

4. Premium Subscriptions

Premium features are available via a paid subscription processed through Lemon Squeezy. Subscriptions auto-renew unless cancelled. You may cancel at any time through your Lemon Squeezy account. No refunds are offered for partial billing periods unless required by applicable law.

5. Acceptable Use

You agree not to misuse the App, attempt to access it by any means other than the provided interfaces, scrape data, or use it for any unlawful purpose. We reserve the right to suspend accounts that violate these terms.

6. Intellectual Property

All content, design, and code within the App are owned by Celtic Baby Names. Name meanings, origins, and pronunciations are compiled from public sources and folklore traditions. You may not reproduce or distribute this content without permission.

7. Disclaimers

The App is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. Name origin and meaning information is provided for informational purposes and may not be exhaustive or authoritative. We are not responsible for any decisions made based on information in the App.

8. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Celtic Baby Names shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the App.

9. Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms at any time. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms. We will update the "Last updated" date above when changes are made.

10. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of Ireland. Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the Irish courts.

2. What Data We Collect

• Account data: your Google email address and display name, provided at sign-in.
• Usage data: names you swipe right (like) or left (pass), daily swipe counts, and login streaks.
• Couple mode data: your partner link and mutual name matches.
• Subscription data: your Lemon Squeezy subscription ID if you subscribe to Premium.
• Feedback: any name suggestions, corrections, or messages you submit voluntarily.

3. How We Use Your Data

• To provide and improve the App's core functionality.
• To show you names you haven't yet seen and track your favourites.
• To enable Couple Mode and mutual match detection.
• To manage Premium subscriptions and verify entitlements.
• To respond to feedback and improve our name database.

4. Legal Basis (GDPR)

We process your data on the basis of:

• Contract performance — to provide the service you signed up for.
• Legitimate interests — to improve the App and prevent abuse.
• Consent — for optional features like Couple Mode.

5. Data Sharing

We do not sell your data. We share data only with:

• Lemon Squeezy — payment processing for Premium subscriptions.
• Google — for authentication only; we do not receive your Google password.
• Hosting providers — servers used to run the App (data stored in the EU/EEA where possible).

6. Data Retention

We retain your account and swipe data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, all personal data is permanently removed from our systems within 30 days, except where retention is required by law.

7. Cookies & Local Storage

The App stores your authentication token and filter preferences in your browser's local storage. No third-party tracking cookies are used.

8. Your Rights

Under GDPR, you have the right to:

• Access — download a copy of all data we hold about you.
• Rectification — correct inaccurate data.
• Erasure — request deletion of your account and all associated data.
• Portability — receive your data in a machine-readable format.
• Objection — object to processing based on legitimate interests.

9. Children's Privacy

The App is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us to have it removed.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page will reflect any changes. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
